The Day Everything Fell Apart (And Gave Me This)
This video is about a day that went wrong in almost every way. A failed street photography session in Bodden Town, an unexpected call from my daughter's daycare, a storm rolling in off the coast — and then Dennis. A fisherman I'd crossed paths with years ago on a commercial shoot, packing up for the day at exactly the right dock at exactly the right moment. The portrait we got together, with that storm behind him and him looking out toward the horizon, is one I'll remember for a long time. And the reminder it gave me is one I needed: stop chasing inspiration. Put yourself in situations where it can find you. If you've ever felt like your location limits your photography — whether you're on a small island, a quiet suburb, or anywhere that isn't Tokyo or New York — this one's for you.
